New VAT rate now applied to Corgi models
In the Chancellor’s pre-Budget report, VAT was cut from 17.5% to 15%.
We are pleased to confirm that all prices on www.corgi.co.uk have been reduced to ensure that the benefit of this tax reduction is passed on to you in full.
All prices shown on the website include VAT at the lower rate. Price reductions are based on the website prices shown on 27th November 2008.

J39 0-6-0 and A3 Pacific Loco's
Bassett Lowke are pleased to bring to our range a new selection of J39 0-6-0 and A3 Pacific Loco’s which we believe will enhance any ‘0’ Gauge collection.
J39 0-6-0 Loco
Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, the J39 was introduced in 1926. It became the new LNER group standard 0-6-0 goods locomotive and over 15 years a total of 289 were produced. In 1948, following the nationalisation of the railways, all the J39s passed into British Railways ownership. They continued in service until 1959 when a fairly rapid programme of withdrawal commenced and by the end of 1962 the entire production had ceased operations. None have survived into preservation.
We hope this additional information is of interest to you. You will note that we have split the run into four different running numbers, each representing a J39 from different BR depot at the time of nationalisation in 1948. The additional new numbers are highly limited to just 40 of each.

A3 Pacific
Sir Nigel Gresley was most famous for his line of Pacific mainline express locomotives, the first of which, the A1, entered service in 1922. The A3 was a modification of the A1 and over time all of the surviving A1s were rebuilt as A3s. 4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ was built in 1923 and went on to become the most famous steam locomotive in the world – setting many records along the way.
Although the Flying Scotsman was the most famous, it was one A3 of many, the majority of which were named after racehorses. So it is a great pleasure to present two more locomotive’s to add to your collection, the Diamond Jubilee (winners of the 1900 2000 Guineas, Derby & St Leger) and Trigo (winner of 1929 Derby and St.Leger). All will be highly limited and additional information on each model is detailed below.

Bassett Lowke makes it's maiden voyage with new P&O Superliner, Ventura
Founded in 1899 and re-launched in 2007, Bassett Lowke has been manufacturing ‘O’ gauge model trains for over 100 years. Owned by the famous toy and collectables company Corgi International, it is now set to sail an exciting voyage of its own with P&O Cruises.
From April 2008, Bassett Lowke will be displaying two of its working models in association with P&O Cruises on board its brand new Superliner, Ventura.
Designed to inspire, Ventura will set a new standard in 21st century cruising. At 115,000 tonnes and some 290 metres long, Ventura is the largest Superliner ever built for the British market. Her vast scale and acres of deck space have allowed her designers a remarkable opportunity in which to introduce new features, additions and experiences, which will appeal to the whole family.
Working in conjunction with the Bassett Lowke Society, specific rail layouts have been designed and installed on board the ship, consisting of two counter running tracks that run above the bar in The Exchange.
In addition, two locomotives, the twin tender A3 Pacific ‘Flying Scotsman’ in LNER livery and rebuilt ‘Patriot’ in British Rail livery (as pictured) will also operate for the 10 to 14 day cruises for 15 hours a day. And, to ensure each locomotive runs consistently, each have been modified with extra traction weight to counter swell variance.

Bassett-Lowke cruising with P&O
In launching the new range of models in 2007, Bassett Lowke is delighted to announce that working in association with P&O Cruises, there will be a rail layout running locomotives in the Exchange on board the new Superliner, Ventura.
Designed to inspire, Ventura, will enter service in April 2008, setting a new standard in 21st century cruising. Bassett Lowke working in conjunction with the Bassett Lowke Society will be supporting P&O Cruises by designing and installing a rail layout with 2 counter running tracks above the Exchange on this beautiful cruise ship. The layout will run 2 specially modified Locomotives of the twin tender A3 Pacific ‘Flying Scotsman’ in LNER livery, in addition to the re-built Patriot in British Rail livery (pictured below) which will run for the 10-14 day cruises for 15 continuous hours a day. Modified with extra traction weight to counter swell variance the Flying Scotsman locomotive and Patriot will be a continuous presence throughout 2008.

Warley International Model Railway Exhibition - 1st-2nd Dec 2007
